A year ago, only in very rare situations could you get me to just sit down and watch a movie. There's always so much other stuff I want to do/see/read, that I was a constant multi-tasker. Annoyingly so to DH, who is notoriously unable to do anything even approaching multi-tasking (remind me some day to tell you about the time he told me he had to hang up his cell phone b/c he couldn't walk and talk to me at the same time) and is entirely distrustful of the muti-tasking ethic. He was so convinced that I was not REALLY able to watch (and enjoy) a movie while also sitting at my desk sorting mail, paying bills, writing email, planning our vacation, looking through magazines, or whatever else I might be doing in addition to watching, that he would often put off starting them until I would come sit on the couch and just watch. Mind you, I'm not talking about being in another room doing dishes or anything, I'm talking sitting at a desk in the very same room. As you might guess, that meant that we saw astonishingly few movies, which was kind of a pain given that we both both like movies, and we had joined Netflix specifically to be able to watch more movies.
Enter knitting. Coincidentally, I'm now quite happy to sit virtually still for hours and hours on my lazy arse and knit while watching all manner of movies (even the really, really terrible ones on Sci-Fi with names like Mansquito) while Rick works his ass off single-handedly renovating our house.
The moral of this tale: Be careful what you ask for.
