I can't for the life of me remember on which blog I saw this, but whoever you are, thanks for confirming what my husband's been telling me for years. Damn. Now he'll never believe I'm only 37...
ANYwhoooo.....I'm still not allowed to show you the knitting, but I CAN show you some of the shopping I've been doing instead. There haven't yet been any purchases, just browsing. You know...for ideas and such. Because my list of things to knit is too short, doncha know?
From the Phildar site:
In a different color, of course, but as it so happens I have two cones of a lovely golden tweed from Webs that is just screaming to be turned into this.
Savannahchick posted this one a while back and I fell head over heals in love, but then promptly forgot about it in the hectic holiday madness. When I saw it agin on the Phildar site I knew it had to be mine. I think I'm likely to substitute some of the Everst-sized mound of Elann's PHW in the stash that had originally been destined for 3 separate Ribby Cardis. ( What' that? You say you don't remember me ever making even one Ribby, much less THREE? That's because I didn't. Do we need to revisit that whole 'fickle knitter' confession? I didn't think so.) I won't get the same drape with the PHW that you can see in this picture, and yes there will be some math needed (pattern gauge is roughly 15 spi), but if knit at a slightly looser gauge, I think the PHW will drape enough to make me happy and still make a good Spring/Fall wearing sweater. Besides, if it becomes my favorite sweater ever, I can always get some new yarn with some silk or alpaca or something to give the 2nd one a bit more drape.
So there you go, 4 more items for the 'Possible Obsessions' collection.
