Hello!

How can the opening ceremonies be only ten days away?!  Guess I'd better get my act together!

I'm going to be knitting a sweater during the Olympics, and the real challenge is that I'm going to try my hand at designing it myself.  I have no aspirations of becoming a knit-designer, rather, I've been forced to admit that my Favorite Sweater -- which is store-bought -- is fast approaching the mandatory retirement age.  To fill the hole that it will no doubt leave in my wardrobe, I'm going to try to re-create it. 

The good news is that it's a fairly straight-forward sweater -- high ribbing, turtleneck, no waist shaping, no colorwork, etc.  The bad news is that, as I mentioned, I've never done this before.  I plan to have the pattern written out by the time the Opening Ceremonies begin, but I anticipate there will be a fair amount of recalculating, ripping, and reknitting during the games.

Good luck! And remember, you have lots of talented team members to help you out. When you have questions, by all means, post them and I'm sure someone will be able to guide you. I think these Olympics will turn into a great learning experience for all of us!
