As in, going away, done, finito....it's the X-Back ribbon tank, ya'll. It's toast, and it's just sitting in the failure pile waiting to be frogged. See, I got to the point where you try it on, you know, just to get an idea of how things are going and all. It turns out that, not only was I not in love with the fit (it was OK, but not great), but even worse, the seed stitch felt horrific against my skin. I mean it, I could not get it off fast enough. I would rather have been trying on a thick, rustic, scratchy aran sweater against my bare, sweaty skin than those 12 inches of seed stitch. So it's gone. Lesson learned. Now I'm back to figuring out what to make for a summer top. I really love Grumperina's Tivoli T-shirt, as well as Allison's NBT, but now that we've had a couple of hot days, I'm finding myself drawn to stuff that touches me less, like Soliel, maybe. Thing is, I'm also really loving the idea of the empire waist, like for Cleo, but then, I can't really wear a halter alone to work so I'd have to make that plus a shrug or bolero or something similar that could then be removed for the commute to and from work and/or other outings. It's not a terrible idea, sort fo a summer twist on the twinset. Or maybe I could just change the strap design.... Ack! Somebody help!
Hey, that's actually not a bad idea! If YOU have an idea or pattern that you love (hell, even if you just like it) for a summer top, I'd really love to hear about it. You can just drop a comment here or email me at kellee at netcom dot com. Don't worry about materials or gauge, I'm just looking for a good design. I can make the rest work out, but I'm really having a hard time with this decision and I can use all the help I can get.
I'm a big fan of the Shapely Tank. It's a very useful pattern that's easy to customize.

I am not a big fan of summer knits, but I agree with Colleen.

I'm doing Soleil in Elann Sonata -- so far, I like the yarn and the pattern is well written. It is my first summer knit.
